description

The ship type was designed by Knud E. Hansen in Helsingør . The ships were ordered in June 1999. The building yard was the Chinese shipyard Guangzhou Shipyard International Co. in Guangzhou . The ships were the first passenger ships to be built at the shipyard.

The vessels are of four Wärtsilä - diesel engines (type 12V46), each with 12,600  kW power driven, two of which via a reduction gear to a pitch propeller effect. The ships are equipped with two electrically powered bow thrusters . Two shaft generators driven by the main engines and three generators driven by Wärtsilä diesel engines (type: 9L20) are available for generating electricity on board . A generator driven by a Cummins diesel engine (type: KTA38) serves as the emergency generator. The ships are equipped with a SCR -Abgasbehandlungssystem for reduction of nitrogen oxides equipped.

The ships have two vehicle decks with 1750  lane meters . The vehicle decks on deck 3 and deck 5 are connected to one another via ramps. The ships are loaded and unloaded via bow and stern ramps on the main deck on deck 3. In front of the bow ramp is a bow visor that opens to the side .

There are four more decks above the vehicle decks. The passenger facilities are located on two of the decks, deck 7 and deck 8. On deck 7 there are rooms with easy chairs and seating at tables, a restaurant, a bistro and a shop. Passenger cabins and a conference room are located on deck 8. There is also a sun deck here. On the two decks above there are rooms for the ship's crew and ship operating rooms. The bridge is located on deck 9 in the forward area of the ships.

The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice ( ice class 1A).
