The Association for Movement Games Auerbach 1906 eV , or VfB Auerbach for short , is a Saxon football and tennis club from Auerbach in Vogtland .

history

The origins of the club go back to the Auerbach Football Club (AFC) founded on May 17, 1906. He became champion in the 2a class in Sportgau Vogtland in 1908, although it was not entered in the club register until June 20, 1913 . The AFC was renamed on April 18, 1919 in "VfB Auerbach 1906 eV".

After the occupation of Germany, the association was forced to dissolve on June 10, 1945. In the autumn of the same year, the “Sports and Culture Cartel Auerbach iV” with the “Football (Ziegeleiweg)” department was formed. The soccer team played as SG Auerbach / Vogtland in the 1948/49 season in the soccer district of West Saxony. After the founding of the German Democratic Republic in 1949, the "BSG Einheit Auerbach" was also founded on January 6, 1951. In 1989 the BSG was the largest sports community in Auerbach with boxing, fencing, soccer, bowling, roller sports, tennis, table tennis, gymnastics / gymnastics and hiking / tourism.

In 1991, the "VfB Auerbach 1906 eV" was finally re-established, whose football department was promoted to the Oberliga Nordost in 2003 . In 2012, when they were runner-up behind FSV Zwickau, they were promoted to the Regionalliga Nordost , in which VfB has been able to hold their own year after year. The club's second team currently plays in the Vogtland League.

Stadion

The soccer field on Ziegeleiweg was inaugurated on September 18, 1921. It was only with the sporting success of VfB Auerbach in 1991 that the venue developed from a sports field to a football stadium . The main grandstand was built in 1993 and the rear grandstand in the south with a VIP lounge and modern changing rooms in 2009. Following the construction of the extended guest stand on the back straight, the VfB Stadium currently holds 5,000 spectators.
