The Sports Community Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt , or SG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt for short , was a German sports club from the Brandenburg town of Eisenhüttenstadt . The club was founded on November 20, 1951 as a company sports community.

The first men's team played, in their last season, in the Landesklasse-Staffel Ost in the Brandenburg Football Association before it was dissolved on June 30, 2016.

History of the football department

founding

On the III. At the SED party congress from July 20 to 24, 1950, the decision was made to build the Eisenhüttenkombinat Ost (EKO) and a residential town west of Fürstenberg (Oder). The nationally owned company (VEB) Bau-Union Fürstenberg , which was significantly involved in the construction of the Eisenhüttenkombinat Ost (EHK Ost) , founded the company sports community (BSG) Aufbau Fürstenberg (Oder) on November 20, 1951 , in order to take part in a sporting activity after work to dedicate. Whether it was bowling, boxing, gymnastics, dance, gymnastics, athletics, canoeing, canoeing, volleyball, basketball or swimming, in which the many members got involved in their free time, they were all united by their dutiful and carefree devotion for the Sport and the club. This was followed by an eventful history in all departments, with many excellent achievements and sporting successes on a regional and supraregional level.

1950s

Football began in 1951 at BSG Aufbau Fürstenberg (Oder), the second largest company sports association in the former Fürstenberg (Oder) district. Initially only with friendly games, including against the big rival of the EHK Ost company, BSG Stahl. In the league game operation, the BSG Aufbau rose to the 1951/52 season in what was then the Brandenburg district class. There the BSG was able to confidently secure the district championship and the associated promotion to the Brandenburg district class. Due to the administrative reform of July 23, 1952, the states on the territory of the GDR were abolished and replaced by districts. Accordingly, the national leagues were dissolved at the beginning of the 1952/1953 football season and the clubs were distributed among the newly created district leagues. For the BSG Aufbau this meant that the game was started in the district class Frankfurt (Oder), the then 4th league in GDR football. Already at the end of the season it went back down to the top of the table in the then district class. On February 1, 1953, the residential town was detached as an independent urban district from the Fürstenberg district and renamed Stalinstadt on May 7, 1953 on the occasion of the death of Stalin, this name was also given to the BSG Aufbau. No particular achievements were made in the soccer field. Until the end of the 50s, they only played at the district class level.

1960s

With the change of the decade, sporting success in football came back. By winning the district championship in the 1960/61 season, the club reported back to the Frankfurt (Oder) district class. On November 13, 1961, as part of the de-Stalinization, the BSG Aufbau Stalinstadt was renamed again to BSG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt. The first season, for almost ten years absence, in the district class, was not a failure as feared, on the contrary, the BSG was able to establish itself at the top of the table. During the 1962–1964 seasons, BSG Aufbau was able to re-establish itself at the top. The runner-up and thus just missed promotion could be proven in the 1964/65 and 1965/66 seasons. The big success finally came in the 1966/67 season. By winning the championship in the Frankfurt (Oder) district class, BSG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt achieved promotion to the district league and the greatest club success to date. As a climber, the achievements from previous years were further confirmed. This was reflected in places 4, 5 and 7. The association was able to look back on a successful decade.

1970s

The 1970s weren't too tense. In terms of football, the BSG Aufbau always played in the district league district of Frankfurt (Oder). There it was never possible to build on the performance of previous years. The best placement was 4th place in the 1979/80 season. The other years it was up and down in the table. The biggest highlight was in the 1973/74 season. BSG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt secured the FDGB district cup for the Frankfurt (Oder) district for the very first time. This victory entitled the club, in the following season, to participate in the FDGB Cup and thus the great test of strength with the clubs from the GDR Oberliga. In the first main round in 1974/75, in the FDGB Cup, there was a test of strength with the former GDR league club BSG Motor Eberswalde. There the BSG Aufbau lost just 0: 1 nV, so the big dream of the big stage was quickly over.

1980s

The BSG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt could not take the momentum from the previous season with it. It was only enough, in the 1980/81 season, only for 9th place in the table. At that time nobody suspected that this was a sign of the further development of the club. With 10th place in the new season and 13th place in the 1982/83 season, relegation was sealed after 16 years in the district league. Due to a change in the club, the direct resurgence could not be guaranteed. In the end, BSG Aufbau spent four seasons in what was then the district class. It was not until 1986/87 that the league championship and the associated longed-for promotion to the district league was secured. In the last three seasons up to 1990, the BSG Aufbau was able to confidently hold the league, always in the upper half of the table.

1990s

On July 1, 1990, members of BSG Aufbau founded the sports community (SG) Aufbau, and the existing sports sections were also taken over as departments. The first football team started again in the district league Frankfurt (Oder), which became the fourth league after the Northeast German Football Association was founded. Just one year later, the club qualified for the newly established association league. This was held for four seasons. After relegation from the association league in the 1994/95 season, the club split. On October 1st, 1995 it was decided to change the club name to VfB Eisenhüttenstadt and the club's coat of arms. Under the new club structure, the BSG started building up in the 1995/96 season in the Landesliga Süd. The successes just failed to materialize. The low point was the renewed sporting descent into the national class East, 1997/98. After two more seasons with average performances, another structural change was carried out in the club on June 30, 2000. This included the renewed change of the club name and club coat of arms.

2000s

The 2000s began very successfully with the name of the club changed. You could always establish yourself in the 2000/01 and 2001/02 season above, in the national class, in the upper half of the table. After a small sporting slump in the 2002/03 season, with 10th place, the championship was gloriously secured the following year. After 6 years, the SG returned to the national league. There not only was relegation secured, but also played, the SG build-up, up to the top for the top of the table. These services could not be accessed again in the 2005/06 season and rose again at the end of the season, in the national class. The club could no longer recover from this descent and build on its old successes. You could just keep the class. In the seasons 2007/08 - 2009/2010, successful football was played again and was able to establish itself at the top of the table.

2010s

In the 2010/2011 season it was not possible to build on the three successful years before. Only the 11th place could be achieved. The following year, the biggest low blow in the club's history since 1990. After 30 games, the relegation in the 2011/12 season to the district league was certain. The SG Aufbau could not be demoralized by the descent and could ensure the direct promotion back to the national class. With 8th place in 2013/14 and 12th place in 2014/15, the club fell short of its sporting expectations. A small ray of hope was winning the district cup. In the final, VfB Fünfeichen was defeated 4: 3 by accident and thus qualified for the state cup again after a long absence. It was all over there in the first round against OFC Eintracht 1901.

The last club season as a club with its own football department ended with the last place in the table in the national class East. In the 2015/16 season, this would have been the sporting relegation to the regional league. However, it was announced in the summer of 2015 that the Eisenhüttenstädter FC Stahl, the soccer section of SG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt, the 1. FC Fürstenberg and the youth development association Eisenhüttenstadt were aiming to merge into a large club in 2012.

As a result, the soccer department moved from SG Aufbau to the newly founded FC Eisenhüttenstadt on July 1, 2016 . The boxing, canoeing and swimming departments will remain in the SG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt association.

Club colors and crests

The club's coat of arms was designed in the 1950s and used for the first time. SG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt wore the colors blue, red and gold since it was founded in 1951. The away shirt is traditionally kept in white.
Today's club coat of arms is in the colors blue, white and red.

Game and training facilities

For the footballers of the BSG, the leather ball rolled for the first time in 1956 on Diehloer Strasse, at that time still on a gravel court (hard court). It was not until July 1984 that the football section began to improve the playing area with topsoil and sow turf. In order to maintain training and match operations, they quickly switched to the Inselstadion. Two years later, for the 1986/87 season, the new grass pitch was inaugurated. A few years later a half floodlight system was built to guarantee training in the dark autumn and winter months. At the turn of the millennium, a small training hard court with floodlights was built next to the main square.

After 20 years of more or less difficult training conditions, the board of SG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt decided to support the efforts of the football department to set up a large-field floodlight system. As early as 2011, the first ideas were refined into plans and applications were sent to offices. A year later, the light poles and headlights were purchased and the cable ducts and foundations dug. In spring 2013 the masts were erected and after the final financing the headlights could be installed and aligned in October of the same year. While the ravages of time are gnawing at some sports facilities in the region and the creeping decay is becoming visible, all the builders take care of the maintenance of their sports facilities with admirable effort. The footballers of the men's and senior teams, who manage the sports field on Diehloer Straße on their own and keep it in good shape, also make a valuable contribution to the continued existence of SG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt.

Youth department

Up until the end of 2011, youth work was still in the hands of SG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt. To concentrate football in Eisenhüttenstadt, on February 7, 2012, the junior departments of Eisenhüttenstädter FC Stahl, SG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt and 1. FC Fürstenberg founded the youth development department Eisenhüttenstadt 2012. The new youth department started on July 1, 2012 with 11 football teams with around 150 young players in their respective leagues. These included the A-Juniors in the South Regional Class, the B-Juniors in the Brandenburgliga, the C-Juniors in the Brandenburgliga, the D1 Juniors in the Landesliga Süd, the D2 Juniors in the District League, the E 1 Juniors in the Landesliga Süd, the E2 Juniors in the Kreisliga and three F-Juniors teams in the Kreisliga. In the state-wide process of concentration among the football clubs, it was explained that the people of Eisenhüttenstadt in Brandenburg were the first to set up such a development association.
As a result of the merger of the three Eisenhüttenstadt football clubs, Eisenhüttenstädter FC Stahl, SG Aufbau Eisenhüttenstadt and 1. FC Fürstenberg in summer 2016, the junior departments were taken over by the Eisenhüttenstadt youth development association in 2012. At the time, the youth department consisted of 170 young players.
