The 2004/05 season was the first regular season of the newly formed Southern Professional Hockey League . The eight teams played 56 games each in the regular season . The regular season's best points team were the Knoxville Ice Bears , while the Columbus Cottonmouths won the President's Cup for the first time in the play-offs .
