history

The association was founded in 1921. In 1947 the Vorsfelder prevailed against VfL Wolfsburg in a play-off for participation in the Braunschweig regional league . After two years in the national league, the SSV played in the third-class amateur league 4 from 1949 to 1964 . The Vorsfelder were the only club that has belonged to this league continuously. In 1954 and 1958 relegation could only just be avoided, while in 1962 the runner-up could be celebrated with four points behind master Goslarer SC 08 .

With the dissolution of the amateur league in 1964, the SSV missed the newly created Association League East , in which the team rose in 1966. In the 1969/70 season, the Vorsfeld runners-up behind Sportfreunde Salzgitter . Until 1984, the team held in the fifth division, to which they only returned in 1993. A year later, he was promoted to the Lower Saxony League East before the Lower Saxony Cup was won in 1995 . In the DFB Cup , SSV were eliminated 5-0 against FC Schalke 04 .

In the association league season 1995/96 the runner-up could be won. In a relegation round, the SSV prevailed after extra time against SC Weyhe and SC Langenhagen and rose to the top division. In the first league season in the club's history, the fore fields surprisingly took third place. In the second DFB Cup participation, the SSV lost to SV Meppen 0-2. In 2000 the team had to relegate from the league. Since eight teams from the Regionalliga Nord were relegated, tenth place was not enough for the forefields.

The team managed to get promoted again immediately, but in 2004 they had to return to the Lower Saxony league straight away. Two years later, the SSV was relegated from this league and since then has been commuting between the Ober- and District Oberliga. Since relegation in 2009, the first team has played in the Braunschweig regional league . In 2015 and 2016, the forefronts were runner-up behind SVG Göttingen 07 and MTV Gifhorn , before they were promoted to the Lower Saxony Oberliga in 2017 . As fourth from last of the 2017/18 season , however, the SSV had to relegate directly.
