Sa'gya ( Tibetan ས་ སྐྱ་ རྫོང , transcription after Wylie : sa skya rdzong , also Sakya Dzong ) is a district in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . It is part of the city of Xigazê .
The Sakya Monastery is the main monastery of the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism ( Vajrayana ), whose patriarchs controlled Tibet from the middle of the 13th century to the middle of the 14th century. Its unique library is considered "the second Dunhuang ".
