Saas-Balen (officially until 31 December 2006: Saas-Balen ) is a Munizipalgemeinde and a civic community of the district Visp and a parish of the deanery Visp of the German-speaking part canton of Valais in Switzerland .
geography
From a geographical point of view, Saas-Balen is the first of the four Saas communities in the Saas Valley to be reached. In this village you can still find the typical old Valais wooden houses, colored black by the sun. The village has 347 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018). The village has around 500 guest beds distributed in holiday apartments and group houses.
The village is at 1480 m. ü. M. and the community area is 3021 ha. In the village there is a post office, a village shop, two restaurants and a butcher shop.

Attractions
The town's landmarks are the historic round church and the imposing Fellbach waterfall, which is over 40 meters high. The unique round church is a late baroque work of art which is now a national monument.
tourism
Saas-Balen has a ski lift right in the village and a natural ice and toboggan run. The village is also the starting point for the 26 km long cross-country ski trail for classic and skating. The trail stretches along the Saaser Vispa to the "Eienalp" at 1930 m. ü. There are over 350 km of marked hiking trails throughout the valley.
