Sabina Meyer

Sabina Meyer (* 1969 in Zurich ) is a Swiss singer who lives in Italy and is active in the fields of jazz and improvisational music as well as new music and baroque music.

Meyer came to Italy in 1988 and studied anthropology and musicology at the University of Bologna . She took singing lessons from Gabriella Bartolomei and Michiko Hirayama . Since the mid-1990s she has been active as an interpreter and composer in the field of new and improvised music.

Meyer worked a. a. with Elio Martusciello , Tristan Honsinger , Ig Henneman , Marco Angius , Roberto Abbondanza , Michel van Goethem , Gianni Trovalusci , Filippo Monico , Alberto Braida , Nino Locatelli , Mike Cooper , Paed Conca , Ab Baars , Roberto Bellatalla , Alvin Curran , Paul Lovens , Eugenio Colombo , Michael Thieke and Walter Prati together.

With Daniela Cattivelli she founded the Duo Antenata in Bologna . The group, which soon grew into a sextet, devoted itself to setting poems by poets such as Ingeborg Bachmann , Patrizia Cavalli , Marina Cvetaeva , Meret Oppenheim , Sylvia Plath , Anne Sexton , Patrizia Valduga and Simone Weil . In 2005 her album AnteNata was released (with Angelo Berardi , Pierangelo Galantino , Fabrizio Spera and Aleksandar Zaric ).

With the group Viktoria Frey ( Lauro Rossi , Fabrizio Puglisi , Fabrizio Spera) Meyer interprets songs by Hanns Eisler ; the Duo Cabaret per Nulla (with Marco Dalpane ) is dedicated to the music of Erik Satie and John Cage . As a duo with Marianne Schuppe , she performs vocal works by Giacinto Scelsi as Two Voices .

With Hans Koch , Paed Conca and Fabrizio Spera Meyer forms an improvisation quartet , with Gak Sato and Vincenzo Vasi the group Etherguys for theremin and electronic music. With the Lemuri Quartet (with Alberto Braida , Michael Thieke and Fabrizio Spera) she performed her own poetry settings , with the group La Zona she devotes herself to dance theater, with prasata she sings Yiddish songs.
