Sagrario is a town in the Potosí Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
location
Sagrario is the central place of the canton Sagrario in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Cotagaita in the province of Nor Chichas . The village is located at an altitude of 4675 m at the foot of the Cerro Chorolque , a 5614 m high mountain, which is rich in ore deposits of tin , bismuth , silver , gold and copper and is exploited from different sides by the "Chorolque" mine.

Sagrario is located on the Bolivian Altiplano in the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera de Chichas . The climate in this region is arid and characterized by a clear time-of-day climate, in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the course of the seasons.
The annual average temperature of the region is around 5 ° C (see climate diagram Santa Bárbara) and fluctuates only insignificantly between 0 ° C in July and 7–8 ° C from November to March. The annual precipitation is low 220 mm, whereby the months April to October are almost free of precipitation. Significant precipitation falls only from November to March, with a maximum of 50 to 60 mm monthly precipitation in January and February.

Sagrario is 341 kilometers south of Potosí , the capital of the department of the same name.
From Potosí, the asphalted highway Ruta 5 leads in a south-westerly direction 208 kilometers to Uyuni , from there the Ruta 21 for a further 96 kilometers to Atocha . Four kilometers south of Atocha, a dirt road branches off in an easterly direction, whose end point after 26 kilometers is the town of Santa Bárbara and Cerro Chorolque; from Santa Bárbara the road circles the Cerro Chorolque on its northern flank and after another seven kilometers reaches Sagrario.

The population of the region is above all the indigenous people of the Quechua (People) on, 96.1 percent of residents in the municipality of Cotagaita speak the Quechua language.
