Salesius Mugambi

Salesius Mugambi (* 1951 in Egandene ) is a Kenyan clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Meru .

Life

After studying philosophy and Catholic theology , Salesius Mugambi received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Meru on December 10, 1977 .

After his ordination, Mugambi worked as parish vicar in Kerote and Tigoni before becoming a military chaplain in 1979 . From 1986 to 1991 he was pastor in Igoji and Muthambi and dean of the southern part of the Meru District . In 1991 Salesius Mugambi was sent to Spain for further studies , where he obtained a degree in canon law in 1994 from the University of Navarra . After returning to his homeland, Mugambi initially worked as the diocesan chancellor and pastor in Riji , before becoming the rain of the propaedeutic seminary of St. Mary in Molo in 1997 . In 2000 Salesius Mugambi became regens of the St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Nairobi .

On 1 December 2001 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To Coadjutor Bishop of Meru. The Apostolic Nuncio in Kenya, Archbishop Giovanni Tonucci , donated him episcopal ordination on March 19, 2002 ; Co- consecrators were the bishop emeritus of Meru, Silas Silvius Njiru , and the coadjutor archbishop of Nyeri , John Njue .

With the resignation of Silas Silvius Njiru on March 18, 2004 Salesius Mugambi succeeded him as Bishop of Meru.
