The Salomon was the first traditional sea-going vessel under Swiss flag . The three-masted topsail schooner with 47 m length over all and 147  GRT also has a diesel drive with 500 HP. The ship has been operating under the name Buona Onda since 2018 .

history

The ship was built in 1910 as a Luchtstraal for logger fishing . In 2008 the ship was flagged under the name Salomon with home port Basel in Switzerland. The owner was the youth home “Sternen” in Erlenbach im Simmental , which from 2013 rented the ship to the “Stiftung Jugendschiffe Schweiz” in Rafz . It used this to work with young people with behavioral problems. Due to criticism from the authorities regarding the operator and security concept, the foundation was informed in 2014 that the approval of the youth welfare office for continued operation as a home would no longer be extended from mid-2016. In October 2015, the foundation took over the ship as sole owner. After revising the pedagogical and security concept, in November 2015 the office still criticized the problem of the Swiss authorities' supervision of operations. Only once this question has been resolved can home operation be approved. At the end of July, the permit from the Canton of Bern expired. The Foundation has submitted an application for approval to the Canton of Zurich, which is being processed. In order to be able to continue operating the youth ship in the meantime, the responsibility for looking after the youth has been temporarily taken over by the German institution "Haus Wildfang".

On November 15, 2017, the last supervised young people left the sailing ship Salomon and joined educational follow-up projects. The project of the Stiftung Jugendschiffe Schweiz and Haus Wildfang GmbH was terminated because the money for necessary renovations was lacking.

In 2018 the ship was sold and renamed Buona Onda . It is still moving.
