The Barnstorf salt marsh is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Uehrde in the joint municipality of Elm-Asse in the Wolfenbüttel district .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG BR 010 is 3  hectares in size. It is completely part of the FFH area “Heeseberg area”.

The nature reserve is northeast of Barnstorf . It protects a naturally formed inland salt spot in a wide valley basin in which salty groundwater rises and at times covers the surface in open pools. The area is divided by a moat. On both sides of the trench there are salty, vegetation-free mud spots. This is followed by salt-tolerant plants ( halophytes ) and plant communities. So find z. B. samphire corridors, puccinellia lawn and salt Aster stocks. Flood turf and ryegrass stands in the edge areas .

In the west, the nature reserve borders on the Wolfenbüttel – Oschersleben railway line, which has been disused in this area .

The area has been a nature reserve since November 16, 1976. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Wolfenbüttel district.
