The Klotzberg is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Hedeper in the joint municipality of Elm-Asse in the Wolfenbüttel district .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG BR 012 is 4.9 hectares in size. The area, which has been managed by the BUND's Braunschweig district group since 1988 , has been a nature reserve since July 2, 1977. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Wolfenbüttel district.

The nature reserve is located south-east of Hedeper in the district of Wetzleben and protects an approximately 30-meter-high layer rib made of Keuper sandstone. In the west of the area there is a former quarry . In the eastern part and in the area of the summit, the ridge is characterized by semi- arid grass , dry bushes and rock band associations. In the nature reserve are u. a. Adonis , pasque flower , grass lily , carnation and yellow scabiosa can be found. Numerous plant species reach their western limit here .

To protect the nutrient-poor soil, robinia , which had previously been planted there and which inject nitrogen into the soil through their roots, were felled from winter 1995 onwards . For maintenance, the area is regularly grazed with sheep and goats.

The former railway line from Börßum to Jerxheim runs through the protected area, dividing it into a northern and a southern area. The area is completely surrounded by agricultural land .
