Sam Harris (pianist)
Sam Harris (born January 5, 1986 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American jazz pianist .
Live and act
Harris received classical piano training as a child. After attending the Booker T. Washington High School for the Arts, he first had private lessons with Janet Jones and Bill Lohr before moving to New York in 2004 to study at the Manhattan School of Music . a. with Jason Moran , Garry Dial and John Riley . Since then he has played in the New York jazz scene a. a. with Mary Halvorson , Miho Hazama , Rudy Royston , Logan Richardson , Gretchen Parlato and Ambrose Akinmusire , on whose Blue Note album The Imagined Savior Is Far Easier to Paint he can be heard. In the field of jazz he was involved in eight recording sessions between 2000 and 2014. a. with Miho Hazama. In 2014 he presented his debut album Interludes on Fresh Sound New Talent , on which Ben van Gelder (as, bcl), Román Filiú (as, fl), Martin Nevin , Ross Gallagher (b) and Craig Weinrib (dr) participated.
