The joint municipality of Hattorf am Harz is a joint municipality in the district of Göttingen in Lower Saxony . Four municipalities have come together in it to carry out their administrative business. The administrative seat of the joint municipality is located in the municipality of Hattorf am Harz .

Founding and affiliation

The joint congregation was founded in 1972. Since the merger of the districts of Osterode am Harz and Göttingen on November 1, 2016, it has belonged to the district of Göttingen.

Joint council

The council of the joint municipality of Hattorf am Harz consists of 20 council women and councilors. This is the specified number for a joint municipality with a population between 7,001 and 8,000. The 20 council members are elected by local elections for five years each.

The full-time mayor of the joint municipality is also entitled to vote in the council of the joint municipality .

The last local election on September 11, 2016 led to the following result (changes compared to 2011):

The mayor of the entire municipality is Rolf Hellwig ( independent ). His deputies are Henning Kruse (SPD) and Georg Wipke (SPD).

Blazon : "The coat of arms shows a four-spoke silver (white) wheel in green that touches the golden (yellow) base of the shield."

The coat of arms was awarded to the municipality on December 16, 1985 by the district of Osterode am Harz.

Meaning: The four spokes of the wheel should symbolize the four member communities. It also stands for the important trade routes that led through all four places of the integrated community in the Middle Ages. The golden soil is an old symbol of the rural way of life. The green shield color refers to agriculture.

Description of the flag: "The flag is cross-striped green and yellow with the coat of arms on top and shifted towards the pole, up to the dividing line on the green stripe, the lower part on the yellow stripe."

Description of the banner: "The banner is green and yellow striped lengthways with the coat of arms above the middle."

Partnerships

There is a partnership with the Dutch municipality of Asten .
