Samuel Adolph von Kalckreuth

Samuel Adolph von Kalckreuth (* 1693 in Guhren near Crossen ; † October 15, 1778 in Stettin ) was a Prussian major general and chief of infantry regiment No. 43 .

Life

He was the son of Hans Otto von Kalckreuth , heir to Guhren, and his second wife Maria Elisabeth von Kleist. Colonel Ernst Georg von Kalckreuth was his half-brother.

Kalckreuth went into Prussian service as a private corporal in 1710 and was employed in the “Anhalt-Zerbst” infantry regiment in Stettin. In 1715 he took part in the battles for Wolin and Usedom during the Pomeranian Campaign in 1715 . On July 20, 1746 he was promoted from major to lieutenant colonel. On May 24, 1747 he became a colonel and in 1757 major general. He also received the "von Anhalt" infantry regiment . In 1758 he was assigned a former Saxon regiment. It was the original regiment "Prince Friedrich August von Sachsen" and like others it was taken over into Prussian service after the surrender of the Saxon army near Pirna . Kalckreuth resigned on August 29, 1758.

He fought in the battles of Hohenfriedberg and Prague . In the battle of Leuthen he was allowed to lead the first attack with the grenadiers. He also fought in the siege of Prague and Cosel.
