The district of San Andrés is located in the Pisco province of the Ica region in southwest Peru . The district founded on December 9, 1921 has an area of ​​232 km². At the 2017 census, there were 13,767 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 12,531, in 2007 13,151. The district administration is located in the 27  m high town of San Andrés with 12,074 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Andrés is located on the coast just south of the provincial capital Pisco .

Geographical location

The district of San Andrés is centrally located in the province of Pisco. It has an almost 4 km long section on the Pacific coast and extends about 24 km inland. The urban area is in the extreme northwest. The Pisco airport is located east of it. Most of the district area is desert. There is only a small amount of irrigated agriculture. The national road 1S ( Panamericana ) crosses the district in a southerly direction and then runs along the southwestern district boundary.

The district of San Andrés borders in the northwest on the district Pisco , in the north on the district Túpac Amaru Inca , in the northeast on the district Humay , in the southeast on the district Salas and in the southwest on the district Paracas .
