Sandberg ( Danish Sandbjerg ) is a district of Flensburg , which is located southeast of the city. The district includes the districts of Achter de Möhl and Adelbylund as well as the campus (Sünderup-West). With Adelbylund the district belongs to the fishing region .
history
The oat market , which today belongs to the Sandberg, was first mentioned in 1764 . In 1808 the St. Johannis windmill was built, which is still a kind of landmark of the district, despite the current decay. But the district did not belong to Flensburg from the start. In 1875 the Achter de Möhl area was incorporated. Today, this part forms together with Adelbylund, which was incorporated in 1970, into the Sandberg district. In 1974, the neighboring Sünderup was also incorporated, which is at least today assigned to the Tarup district . In the 20th century universities, the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences and the Flensburg University settled in the district of Flensburg . This created the campus directly west of Sünderup. On the edge of the district is also the Flensburg Business Academy , which is mostly still part of St. Johannis . The proportion of 18 to 30 year olds is particularly high in the district because of the reasons mentioned. In addition, the Schleswig-Holstein library center has been based there for many years.
