The Sandberg near Hoiersdorf is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon town of Schöningen in the Helmstedt district .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG BR 040 is 3.2  hectares in size.

The nature reserve, which consists of two parts, is located south of the Schöningen district of Hoiersdorf . It places an elongated, south-facing steep terrain under protection. This consists of open, colorful marls from the Middle Keuper and is partially covered with loess . Semi- arid grass and raw soil with short-lived plants and lichen communities can be found in the protected area .

At the nature reserve, wholly of field surrounded areas, close weeds corridors on. It forms a rare habitat with great structural diversity and high biodiversity . Numerous plant and animal species reach their western limit here .

The area has been a nature reserve since June 16, 1981. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Helmstedt district.
