Sarıcakaya is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Eskişehir and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Eskişehir (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 1993 . Sarıcakaya is located about 30 kilometers north of the center of Eskişehir .

The district is in the north of the province. It borders on Alpu to the southeast, Tepebaşı to the south, Mihalgazi to the west and the provinces of Bilecik and Bolu to the north . A road runs through the town and the district, connecting Söğüt in the province of Bilecik in the west with Nallıhan in Ankara in the east. A connecting road to Eskişehir branches off to the south. The Sakarya River flows through the city from east to west . Mountains rise on both sides, in the north part of the Köroğlu Dağları , in the south the Sündiken Dağları .

history

The place was originally called Burnaklar and belonged to the Kaza Göynük des Sanjak of Izmit (today Bolu Province), from 1884 it belonged to Söğüt (Bilecik Province). After Eskişehir became a province in 1925, Burnaklar moved to this province in 1944 (central district, Merkez ). In 1957 it was renamed Sarıcakaya and on April 1, 1958, it became independent as a district. In 1990, the southern part of Sarıcakaya County became independent as the new Mihalgazi County.
