Sasha Pokulok (born May 25, 1986 in Vaudreuil-Dorion , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Cornwall River Kings in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey since July 2012 .
Career
Sasha Pokulok began his career as a hockey player with the Notre Dame Hounds, for which he was active in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in the 2003/04 season . He then attended Cornell University for two years and played for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . With his team he won the ECAC Hockey Championship in 2005 . From 2006 to 2009, the defender played parallel for the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League and the South Carolina Stingrays in the ECHL , where he was 2009 Kelly Cup winner with the Stingrays . Both teams were the farm teams of the Washington Capitals , who had selected him in the NHL Entry Draft 2005 in the first round as a total of 14 players. However, he was not used for the Capitals themselves.
The 2009/10 season spent Pokulok predominate with the Bakersfield Condors from the ECHL. In these he was able to convince and was nominated in 2010 for Robbie Bina, who moved to Norway, on the part of the National Conference for the ECHL All-Star Game for the Starting Six . He also ran together 15 times for the Springfield Falcons and San Antonio Rampage in the AHL. For the following season, the Canadian was signed by the DEG Metro Stars from the German Ice Hockey League . After one season he moved to Austria, where he played with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League . In July 2012 Pokulok returned to his Canadian homeland, where he joined the Cornwall River Kings in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey .
International
For Canada Pokulok took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2006 . In this he won the gold medal with his team. He himself remained pointless and punished in six games.
