Robbie Bina (born January 4, 1983 in Grand Forks , North Dakota ) is an American ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg in the German Ice Hockey League between 2010 and 2018 .
Career
Robbie Bina began his career as a hockey player in the junior team Bismarck Bobcats, for which he was active in the 2001/02 season in the America West Hockey League. He then played for a year for the Lincoln Stars in the United States Hockey League and won their championship title, the Clark Cup , with his team . From 2003 to 2008 he studied at the University of North Dakota , for whose ice hockey team he was used in parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association , where he was absent due to injury throughout the 2005/06 season.
In the 2008/09 season , Bina made his professional ice hockey debut for the Springfield Falcons from the American Hockey League , playing in parallel for their cooperation partner Stockton Thunder in the ECHL . The following season the defender spent mostly with the Las Vegas Wranglers in the ECHL and only ran twice for the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL. In Las Vegas he was able to convince straight away and scored five goals and 17 assists in 27 games for his new team, whereupon he was nominated for the ECHL All-Star Game at the National Conference. In January 2010, however, he decided to move to Europe to the Stavanger Oilers and was replaced in the All-Star Team by Sasha Pokulok . With the Stavanger Oilers, the right-handed shooter was Norwegian champion at the end of the season . He contributed to this success mainly in the playoffs when he scored 20 points scorer in 18 games, including four goals. He was then elected to the All-Star Team of the GET-leagues .
From the 2010/11 season , Bina played for the Grizzlys Wolfsburg from the German Ice Hockey League . Here he performed consistently well and was given the nickname Mr. Reliable by fans and the local press from 2012 onwards . His contract was subsequently extended several times.
After eight years in Wolfsburg, Bina did not get a new contract with the Grizzlys in 2018.
