Satu Rautiainen (* as Satu Annila on March 19, 1988 ) is a Finnish biathlete and former cross-country skier .
Satu Rautiainen starts for the Vuokatti Ski Team Kainuu and the Äänekosken Urheilijat club . At first she was active in cross-country skiing. Here she made her international debut at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2005 in Monthey , where she was seventh in the freestyle sprint, ninth in the 5-kilometer classic and 16th in the 7.5-kilometer freestyle. A year later she started at the Nordic Junior World Championships in Kranj and was 44th in the double pursuit and 34th in the freestyle sprint qualification. At the end of 2006 she made her debut in the Scandinavian Cup , where she was able to quickly work her way up to top 30 placings. In 2007 she started again in Tarvisio at the Nordic Junior World Championships and was 16th in the classic sprint, 34th over 5-kilometer freestyle and 47th in the pursuit. For the third and last time, Rautiainen took part in a Nordic Junior World Championship for juniors in Mals and won the bronze medal in the relay race with Johanna Heinänen, Kerttu Niskanen and Krista Lähteenmäki . She was also eleventh over the 5-kilometer classic, 19th in the freestyle sprint and did not finish the 10-kilometer freestyle race. In addition to the Junior World Championships, she only ran races in the Scandinavian Cup and FIS races until 2008 . In Kuusamo she could in 2008 her debut in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup enter and be in a classic sprint 64th. Two more World Cup races followed by the end of the season, 59th place in the 10-kilometer freestyle in Lahti was her best result in the highest racing series. Until 2012 only races at regional level and in the Scandinavian Cup followed, without Rautiainen achieving any notable results.
For the 2012/13 season, Rautiainen switched to biathlon under the guidance of the former national coach Asko Nuutinen . In November 2012, she ran her first international biathlon race in Kontiolahti and came in sixth. She contested her first regular international race in 2013 as part of the IBU Cup in Otepää and was 61st in the sprint. In Ostrow , she achieved her best result in the second highest international racing series in biathlon with a sprint in 46th place. This was followed by the first participation in an international championship, the 2013 European Championships in Bansko . Here she was 36th in the individual and did not compete in the sprint race despite being reported.
