Saundra Santiago

Saundra Santiago (born April 13, 1957 in the Bronx , New York City , New York ) is an American actress .

Life

At the age of 13, Santiago moved to Homestead , Florida with her parents . Her parents are from Cuba and Puerto Rico .

She received a scholarship from the University of Miami and majored in psychology . During her time at the university, she discovered her interest in acting and completed a further degree in theater arts at Southern Methodist University , which she also successfully completed.

Santiago became known worldwide for her role as the policewoman Gina Calabrese in the US crime series Miami Vice in the 1980s. She also appeared in the US series Springfield Story and The Sopranos and in the film Beat Street in the role of Carmen.

She took on other roles in the series Law & Order and since 2009 in the role of Carlota Vega in Love, Lies, Passion , where she was already involved in 2004.
