Saygrace

Grace Sewell (born April 8, 1997 in Brisbane ) is an Australian singer who gained international fame in 2015 with her hit You Don't Own Me . In 2019 she gave herself the stage name Saygrace (also spelled SayGrace or SAYGRACE ).

biography

Grace Sewell was born in Brisbane and grew up in a musical family. Her influences include Smokey Robinson , Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick .

In 2015 Sewell was signed to RCA Records and in March her single You Don't Own Me was released under the stage name Grace , which was recorded together with the US rapper G-Eazy . It is a cover version of the song of the same name by the singer Lesley Gore , who died about a month before it was released. The song developed into an international hit from May 2015 and rose to number 1 in the singles charts in Australia and into the top 5 of the New Zealand music charts . He also achieved several placements in European countries, including he was particularly successful in the United Kingdom , where it reached number 4 in the charts. Sewell received an ARIA Music Award nomination for the song .

On May 26th, their debut EP Memo was released, which entered the Billboard 200 . The artist's first album, FMA, followed in July 2016 , which also reached several international chart positions. However , the singer could not follow the success of You Don't Own Me .

In 2019 she released two more singles under the stage name Saygrace .

Her brother Conrad Sewell is also successful as a musician.
