history

Schöneiche was first mentioned in a document in 1517 as a Vorwerk von Sellendorf under the name Schoneiche . The place name means village on a beautiful oak . The place belonged to the rule Golßen until 1945 , the last owners of the village were the lords of Solms-Baruth . In 1952 Schöneiche became a state-owned property of the GDR.

Schöneiche was never administratively independent. On July 25, 1952, the place was assigned to the newly formed Luckau district in the Cottbus district . After the reunification , the village was initially in the Luckau district in Brandenburg and was assigned to the newly formed Dahme-Spreewald district after the district reform in December 1993 . On December 31, 2002 Sellendorf was merged with Glienig to form the municipality of Steinreich and Schöneiche was downgraded to a part of the municipality.

On August 30, 1992 Sellendorf and Schöneiche were attached to the Golßener Land office. This merged on January 1, 2013 with the Unterspreewald office . As a result, the Golßener Land office was dissolved and the villages were reclassified into the newly formed Unterspreewald office .
