The rank of the Bundeswehr Rifleman is determined by the Federal President with the order of the Federal President on the rank designations and the uniform of the soldiers on the basis of the Soldiers Act . The abbreviation is Schtz - in Listen S for S oldat .

Substantially all lead Army Uniform in the lowest rank in the military units of the Military Police , the NBC defense troops , the army reconnaissance troops , the military music service , the military logistics in the military base and in most military units of the Army logistics troops the rank Sagittarius. This also applied to soldiers in the lowest rank in the former televsion and field intelligence forces .

The term Schütze has a long tradition in German armed forces, both as a function and as a rank.
Equivalent and superior ranks
The rifleman corresponds to the rank of hunter, radio operator, tank grenadier, etc. ( → see here ) of other military branches. The collective term for all of these lowest ranks is often the term “soldier” . In the armed forces of NATO , the shooter is equivalent to all ranks with the NATO rank code OR-1. In the category of teams a shooter according ZDv is 7.20 under the higher-ranking corporal classified.
