Schafberg is a district of the municipality Hürtgenwald in the district of Düren , North Rhine-Westphalia .

location

The place is in the Eifel National Park in the Rureifel and in the North Eifel Nature Park directly on the ascending slopes of the Eifel . Neighboring towns are Straß , Untermaubach and Kleinhau . From Schafberg you can see far into the Cologne Bay and the Zülpich Börde . Most of the houses have an unobstructed view of Cologne Cathedral and the Siebengebirge .

Schafberg is about 310 m above sea level.

history

Reorganization

On July 1, 1969, the formerly independent municipalities of Bergstein, Brandenberg, Gey, Großhau, Hürtgen, Kleinhau and Straß (with Horm and Schafberg), administered by the Straß-Bergstein District Association, voluntarily merged to form the Hürtgenwald municipality. As part of the municipal reorganization ( Aachen law ), the municipality of Hürtgenwald was created in its current size through the incorporation of Vossenack on January 1, 1972.
