Brandenberg is a small place in the Eifel community Hürtgenwald ( Düren district ). The place has 637 inhabitants.
location
The place is in the Eifel National Park in the Rureifel and in the North Eifel Nature Park . Neighboring towns are Bergstein , Kleinhau , and Obermaubach . From Brandenberg there is a wide view of the Cologne Bay and the Zülpich Börde . The Kall flows on one side of the ridge on which the village was built, and the Rur with the Obermaubach reservoir on the other .
history
Archaeological finds suggest the first settlement in the Neolithic between 3000 and 1800 BC. The place is first mentioned in a document in the tax register of the Düren forest counties in 1447.
In the Second World War , Brandenberg was almost completely destroyed during the fighting in the Hürtgenwald ( All Souls' Battle ).

Reorganization
On July 1, 1969, Brandenberg joined forces with its neighboring communities from the Straß-Bergstein district association to form the new community of Hürtgenwald.
traffic
The L 11 road runs from Kleinhau to Zerkall next to the village. The village has no through traffic. Buses BVR take the AVV -line 286 through the town.

- In Brandenberg there is a kindergarten for the villages of Zerkall, Bergstein and Brandenberg .
- Between Brandenberg and Kleinhau there is a 1800 m long natural motocross course with floodlights which, according to the map, belongs to Brandenberg.
