history

Schindelbach, Anton-Günther-Stein

In 1544, the Marienberg City Council acquired the Niederschindelbach Forest to build a board mill for making shingle. In 1574 another mill was built above the first board mill. In the Thirty Years' War , both board mills were destroyed after the 1630th In 1692 the upper mill was rebuilt as an oil and board mill by the Großrückerswalder liege judge. In 1715 the council mill was rebuilt. In 1774 it was sold and used as an oil mill. Since 1789 the upper mill was called the "Schindelbachmühle" and the lower one as the "Brettmühle". In 1899 the upper mill was converted into a wood goods factory, and Max Hunger opened a small restaurant in the Niederschindelbacher Mühle.

The place Schindelbach was mentioned for the first time in 1752. Until 1856 he belonged to the electoral or royal Saxon office of Selva Val Gardena . From 1856 the place belonged to the Marienberg court office and from 1874 to the Marienberg district administration . In 1871 Schindelbach had 177 inhabitants (Nieder-Schindelbach 70 inhabitants, Ober-Schindelbach 107 inhabitants). Nieder-Schindelbach had belonged to the ground since February 4, 1835 and only became part of Großrückerswalde with its incorporation in 1936. Ober-Schindelbach has belonged to Großrückerswalde since this settlement was founded. In 1894 a school was built in the village. Behind this was the Schindelbacher Waldbühne, on which the Erzgebirge folk poet and singer Anton Günther had a performance in 1910. The Schindelbach Voluntary Fire Brigade was founded in 1924. Three years later, Schindelbach was connected to the electricity network. In 1929 the Mühlengaststätte was sold to Kurt Keinert, who turned the restaurant into a popular restaurant. In 1938 the Anton Günther memorial stone, which is still located at this point today, was inaugurated opposite the restaurant.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Schindelbach came as a district of the community Großrückerswalde in 1952 to the district of Marienberg in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Marienberg from 1990 and in 1994 in the Middle Ore Mountains and / or . in 2008 in the Erzgebirgskreis. A water pipe has existed in the village since 1956. In the same year the Schindelbachmühle was used as the holiday home of the Leipzig-West depot and the restaurant was reopened. In 1981 the holiday home went to the " Wilhelm Pieck " Karl-Marx-Stadt housing association .

After the fall of the Wall , the Schindelbachmühle came into the possession of a southern German company in 1991, until it was finally closed in 1995. In the following years the neglected building fell into disrepair. After the purchase by the municipality of Großrückerswalde, the building, which was now in danger of collapsing, was completely demolished in 2010. Today a small plaque reminds of the restaurant at the location.
