The Schinder is a striking mountain with a rocky north side, which is one of the Tegernsee Mountains in the Mangfall Mountains and the border between Bavaria and Tyrol runs above the ridge height . The main summit is the 1808  m high Austrian Schinder (also called Trausnitzberg ), from whose summit cross there is a panorama of the Kaiser Mountains in the east over the Großglockner , Großvenediger and Zillertal Alps in the south to the Zugspitze in the west.

The Schinder can be reached easily on a good mountain climb from the Valepp via the Trausnitzalm and the southern ridge in 2.5 hours.

Alternatively, you can choose the demanding route over the Schinderkar , the Schinder Gate and the Fensterl on the Schinder; However, this requires surefootedness and a head for heights , as exposed rock and scree passages have to be overcome. Snow fields can remain in the Schinderkar until late in the year.

The neighboring Bavarian Schinder is a 1796  m high secondary summit, which lies entirely in Bavaria and can be climbed from the main summit in around 30 minutes via the exposed connecting ridge.

The two remaining climbs to the Schinder (from the Bayr-Alm via the Rieselbergalm and Ritzelbergalm or from the Erzherzog-Johann-Klause via the south side) are marked, but very lonely and rarely used.
