Lichtengraben Castle (2005)

The castle was built in the first half of the 16th century to replace the abandoned Painhof Castle and expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries.

In 1564 a Peter and an Ehrenreich were named by Pain. From 1711 to 1839 the castle was owned by the Teuffenbach family . After that there were frequent changes of ownership.

Building description

The castle is a three-storey building with an attic storey around an inner courtyard. It is labeled 1544. On the main facade in the southeast the castle has a rustikaportal and above it in the roof zone a clock tower. Several marble reliefs are walled into the building; in the arcade courtyard among other things mermaids and in the driveway a relief of two men with daggers holding a cow's head. The staircase in the courtyard was not added until 1920. The former chapel with narrow arched windows is located in the northeast corner of the first floor.
