Liebenstein Castle

Liebenstein Castle is a castle in the Jebenhausen district of Göppingen . It was built in the 17th century.

history

The Lords of Liebenstein owned possessions in Jebenhausen as early as the 13th century, after Konrad III. von Liebenstein had acquired the share of the Counts of Württemberg in 1467 and the share of his sister Kunigunde in 1468. As a result of a family dispute between the brothers Philipp Konrad II and Philipp Albrecht von Liebenstein, the family castle and the goods Kaltenwesten and Ottmarsheim belonging to Liebenstein were sold to Württemberg in 1671 and 1678 . From the proceeds of the goods, Philipp Albrecht von Liebenstein built a castle in Jebenhausen in 1686 near the sour water springs, which were partly included in the construction and can still be found in the cellar vaults today. The castle, which is still largely in its original state today, is a simple stone structure, which is only decorated by the corner bay windows and the three-tiered volute gable with an attached obelisk. Today the castle is still the residence of a Liebenstein line.
