The Turmberg ruin is the ruin of a hilltop castle 500 meters southeast of Aichelberg near Bad Boll in the Göppingen district in Baden-Württemberg .
Geographical location
The castle is located at 608.8 m above sea level. NN above the village on the ridge of the tower of the same name, south of the Aichelberg, a mountain in the Swabian Alb . Below the ruins is Aichelberg Castle , built on the Aichelberg in 1210, above the town of Aichelberg of the same name. Both Aichelberg and Turmberg are modeled remains of former volcanic chimneys of the Swabian volcano .
history
Turmberg Castle was built around 1200 by the Lords of Aichelberg , came into the possession of the Counts of Württemberg in 1334 , fell into disrepair and later became the property of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

Wall and moat remains of the former complex , as well as small remains of the core masonry, can still be seen. The castle site, which is surrounded by a moat and is now freely accessible, has a diameter of around 10 to 15 meters. A square tower, probably the keep , in the northern area of the complex took up a square base area of 8 to 10 meters on a side.
