The castle Drackenstein is an Outbound Spur castle on a 658 m above sea level. NN Bergsporn south of the church of Unterdrackenstein , part of the municipality Drackenstein in the district of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg .
In the 14th century the castle belonged to the Lords of Westernach and in the 15th century to the Lords of Westerstetten , who then also referred to themselves as the Lords of Trackenstein . In 1589 Eitel Fritz von Westerstetten sold the village and Castle Drackenstein to Baron Kaspar Bernhard von Rechberg . In the same year ownership passed to Count Rudolf von Helfenstein .
In 1679 the castle was demolished because it was in disrepair. Around 1842, the castle site was still recognizable on the so-called castle rock through a pile of rubble.
