In 1956, Alfred Scholpp founded the transport business of the same name in Stuttgart. In the 1970s, the family company established its assembly area and developed, among other things, the first special lifting frames for the printing industry. Since the early 1990s, Scholpp has expanded industrial assembly and founded branches and subsidiaries in the People's Republic of China , Malaysia and Spain . In 2007 a temporary employment agency was founded in Fulda under the brand TimeProfessionals.

In the following years Scholpp bought SK Industrieservice GmbH, a service company for plastic injection molding machines, in Freital , Saxony (2008) and integrated the industrial assembly area of Grohmann ISM GmbH, Berlin , (2011) into the Scholpp Group. In 2012 Odewald und Compagnie took a stake in the group. The Scholpp service group GmbH & Co. KG was restructured to a stock corporation. PTC PressEngineering GmbH, based in Oberhausen, became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scholpp in 2012. Scholpp grew again in 2014 through the acquisition of the ProTec Group in Nuremberg (integration as the Service division into the Scholpp Group in 2015) and the purchase of the FW Neukirch Schwermontagen division, Bremen . Scholpp Kran und Transport GmbH was also part of the Scholpp Group until 2014, but was bought back by Martin Scholpp.

In 2015 techno system GmbH and techno service GmbH were acquired as service providers in textile machine construction in Nordhorn . Bratz Engineering GmbH, based in Wuppertal , was also integrated into the Scholpp Group. With Scholpp Montaggi Italia srl, another foreign company has been founded in Italy with headquarters in Milan.

The insolvent IndustrieMontagen Thüringen GmbH (IMT) became part of the Scholpp Group in 2017. Also in 2017, the two companies Scholpp Montagetechnik GmbH and Scholpp Montage GmbH were merged to form Scholpp GmbH.
