Location of Schwaig in Bavaria

The Schwaig (also Wörth ) is a district of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Iffeldorf in the district of Weilheim-Schongau . The wasteland is just under two kilometers northwest of the Iffeldorfer town center and about 500 meters west of the Great Ostersee .

history

The current place name "Schwaig" comes from the fact that the farm there was a Schwaighof . The actual place name is "Wörth". The Schwaig is mentioned for the first time under this name as "Werde" in the land register of the Lords of Seefeld - Peißenberg from the period between 1300 and 1320.

The court stamp conscription of 1752 reports that the Schwaig was a 14 -hof , which was subject to interest at the Wessobrunn monastery .

In 1900 Hugo von Maffei , the owner of the Staltach estate , acquired the Schwaig and incorporated it into the estate. After 34 years the Schwaig became an independent estate of the Leidel family. In 1989, an investor from northern Germany bought the property and planned major renovations, which were not approved. Three years later he sold to Axel Baufeld from Munich, who converted and expanded the estate into a horse farm.

The court chapel, built in 1861, is now a listed building , as is a path chapel on the Schwaig corridor, designated in 1714 .

To the northeast of the Schwaig there are two dead ice holes , which are designated as natural monuments .
