Location of Ostersee in Bavaria

Ostersee is a former district of Iffeldorf in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau . It was located on the eastern shore of the Great Easter Lake , from which the place name comes.

history

An Osterseer Hof is mentioned for the first time in the Weilheimer Leibbuch (population register) from 1510.

Until the end of the 19th century, Ostersee consisted of three farms:

The “Black”, a 18- yard , which was subject to interest from the Bernried monastery , is mentioned for the first time around 1537 in the Höhenkirchen Salbuch . In 1865 the then farmer sold the farm to Joseph Anton von Maffei , who ran the nearby Staltach estate . The farm was used for the farm until it burned down in 1929 and was not rebuilt. The other properties are the "Heiß" and the "Valentin", both 18 yards that are also subject to interest for the Bernried Monastery. Joseph Anton von Maffei acquired the "Heiß" and the "Valentin" in 1861 and 1862 respectively and used them for running the estate until both were demolished in 1891.

In the Bavarian local registers, Ostersee was classified as a hamlet until 1904 , then as a wasteland in 1928 and no longer mentioned in 1952.

Today only a few overgrown stones on the oak-lined hiking trail point to one of the courtyards. However, less than 400 meters further east, beyond the railway line , there has been a farm again since 1964, the "Osterseehof"; however, it is not an official district. The courtyard, built by a Sudeten German , was expanded in 2009 to become a sanctuary of the Gut Aiderbichl Foundation, which opened in autumn 2011.
