Black-orange coalition

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Austria, a coalition between the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP, black) and the Alliance Future Austria (BZÖ, orange) is referred to as black-orange , in Bavaria, on the other hand, a coalition of the Bavarian regional party Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU) and the Citizens' Association of Free Voters Bavaria (also Bayernkoalition or Papaya coalition ).

Federal level

After the split in the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), the black-blue coalition became a black-orange. From 2005 to the beginning of 2007 Austria was ruled by this coalition.

Since Black-Blue did not have a majority after the Austrian National Council election in 2008 , there was, for example, the possibility of a center-right coalition between ÖVP, FPÖ and BZÖ, which was ruled out early on by Josef Pröll and Heinz-Christian Strache . At a meeting between Jörg Haider and Heinz-Christian Strache at the end of 2008, they did not rule out an ÖVP-FPÖ-BZÖ government, but said that the decision on this lay with the ÖVP.

Country level

After the termination of the orange-red coalition in Carinthia , an orange-black coalition was brought into play. In Carinthia there was an orange-black coalition under Gerhard Dörfler in 2009, but since the Freedom Party in Carinthia split off from the BZÖ in December 2009 , the name for this government was again the blue-black coalition. In 2009, the FPÖ's top candidate Mario Canori named a cooperation with the BZÖ as a desired coalition, and if these two parties did not have a majority, an additional involvement of the ÖVP would be possible.

Country level

After the CSU suffered losses in the state elections in Bavaria in 2018 and thus lost the absolute majority, coalition negotiations with the free voters began. Markus Söder favored this alliance even before the election. Since November 12, 2018, the Söder II cabinet , consisting of the CSU and Free Voters, has been the 27th state government of the Free State of Bavaria .
