Schweinitz is a district of the town of Pößneck in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .
geography
The hamlet of Schweinitz is located north of Pößneck in the Orlatal valley on the right a little off the road 1108 leading from Pößneck to Orlamünde . The Pößneck-Orlamünde railway line also runs through the Orlatal valley. The village lies at the foot of the hill towards Langendembach and the Saale-Ilm-Buntsandsteinplatte. Neighboring towns are south of Rehmen , north of Kleindembach and north-east of Langendembach.
With the line 964 of the transport company KomBus Schweinitz has a connection to the core town Pößneck as well as to the towns of Kahla and Jena .

In December 1074 the place was first mentioned in a document.
80 people live in the village in 2011. The village was once oriented towards agriculture. Today people go to work elsewhere and use the natural location of the hamlet for rentals to those looking for relaxation and also offer concerts by the parish in the church.
