history

Place name

The place name is derived from the location on the swing arm.

Prehistory and early history

A prehistoric settlement can be proven by several barrows and an urn cemetery in the Schwinger Heide. As a settlement area, Schwinge offered the first settlers a favorable location through the Schwinge in the south and east with the meadows in front and through the Biden , a ridge of the Geest in the north with fertile farmland. There was also a large moor and heather area to the west.

middle Ages

Schwinge was first mentioned in a document in 1133. However, the place name does not appear again in the documents until almost 200 years later, namely in 1328 as Swynge in the Stader Stadtbuch .

Around 1500 Schwinge consisted of four yards and a cottage. In the 15th century the tithe went to the Buck family in Stade and to the Marienkloster Stade.

In the Middle Ages, the village was the ancestral home of the von Schwinge family, who later settled in Brobergen on the Oste and then renamed the von Brobergen .

Modern times

The center of the village was the Schwinge estate, surrounded by a moat that can still be seen today. In Sweden time the estate belonged to the Erbkämmerer the Duchy of Bremen Alexander von Erskine from Schölisch . The place was named Erskin-Schwinge after him for 200 years . Then the castle passed to the Rittmeister von Bülow . In 1736 the von derdecke family acquired the gem. From 1784 to 1852, Gut Schwinge was a patrimonial court with its own jurisdiction .

In 1717 compulsory schooling was introduced; the children first attended school in Mulsum , later in Fredenbeck. In 1760 the Schwinger peasant rebellion took place. In 1794 a cemetery was laid out on the vondecke family's land. Oak and beech stocks to the west were cut down and cultivated.

In 1842 a major fire destroyed eleven buildings in the village. Therefore, in 1846, the landlord had a fire engine purchased.

In 1855 some settlements were formed outside the village: "Schwinger Steindamm", "An der Bult" and "Hagenaher Furth". In the Schwinger Heide, the road lifter ran an inn, the "Schwinger Baum". In 1926 it burned down to the ground.

In 1862 the property was divided as follows: Gut Schwinge (250 hectares), eight full farms (120 hectares), two half farms (60 hectares) and fifteen growers (20 hectares). Around 1900 the poor road conditions were improved.

In 1924 the first volunteer fire brigade was founded in the village.

In 1960 the parish hall was built. It contained the community office, a cold store and the fire station . That was expanded into a village community center in 1982.

In the 1970s, a new building area was designated for the first time in the place, which was enlarged in 1995/96.

Administrative history

Before 1784 Schwinge belonged to the Harsefeld office . From 1784 to 1852 Schwinge formed a patrimonial court , to which, in addition to Schwinge, the Hagenaher Steindamm, the Mulsumer Steindamm and the Gut Schwinge belonged (status: 1848). By ordinance of the Kingdom of Hanover , the Schwinge court belonged to the Stade-Agathenburg office from 1950 , which was added to the Himmelpforten office in 1859 .

With the administrative reform, Schwinge came to the district of Stade in 1885 and since 1932 to the current district of Stade .

Incorporation

In the period before 1972 Schwinge belonged to the first integrated community of Fredenbeck . On July 1, 1972, Schwinge was incorporated into Fredenbeck as part of the regional reform . Fredenbeck is part of the integrated community of Fredenbeck .

religion

Schwinge is evangelical-Lutheran and belongs to the parish of the St. Petri Church in Mulsum .
