Sea Beast - The monster from the deep (Original title: Troglodyte ) is an American science fiction - Horror - TV movie from the year 2008 . The film , shot in and around Vancouver under the direction of the Canadian Paul Ziller, who specializes in low-budget films , received passable reviews and was first broadcast on June 30, 2008 on the Syfy television station. In Germany it was released directly on DVD and Blu-ray on July 30, 2010 . At the center of the action is a small American fishing village that is attacked by voracious deep-sea residents.

Skipper Will's crew is decimated by an invisible creature during a storm at sea. As soon as he landed at his home dock, Will catches up with difficulties because he has not been able to pay his debts for a long time, which can be attributed to the recently sharply reduced fish population in the area. But not only Will is at a loss on this point, the biologist Arden, who examines the waters, cannot explain the events either. Only when people are attacked by something unknown again and traces of toxic slime are found, Will and some intrepid people set about investigating the matter. To make matters worse, Will's daughter Carly and her friends Danny, Erin and Drew have gone to a nearby island to celebrate - but it should soon become a nightmare for them.

The ratings for Sea Beast - The Monster from the Deep were mostly average. So the critics of the awarded program magazine TV Spielfilm a symbolic "thumbs sideways" and judge: "Amazingly, the rotated for TV Stuss is fairly exciting." The film as a whole is a "very bloody, effective monster fun."
