Sean Gagnon (born September 11, 1973 in Sault Ste. Marie , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player (defender) who played for the Phoenix Coyotes and Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League and the Lausitzer Füchse in the 2. Bundesliga played.
Career
As a junior he played for the Sudbury Wolves , Ottawa 67’s and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League . With the Greyhounds he won the Memorial Cup in 1993 .
After he was not considered in the NHL Entry Draft , he played as a senior first for the Dayton Bombers in the East Coast Hockey League and later for the Fort Wayne Komets in the International Hockey League . In 1997 he signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Coyotes , who mainly used him in the 1997/98 season with their AHL farm team, the Springfield Falcons . In the NHL he only came to five missions. The following year, which brought him two more NHL appearances, he mostly played in Springfield.
In 1999 he moved to Finland for one season to Jokerit before he was hired by the Ottawa Senators in the NHL . Here, however, he only came to five games and was mostly used in the IHL at the Grand Rapids Griffins . In the summer of 2001, the Senators gave it to the New York Rangers for Jason Doig and Jeff Ulmer . There, too, his home was the AHL farm team. After a year at the Hartford Wolf Pack and another at the San Antonio Rampage , he went to Russia in 2003 for two games to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk . He spent the remainder of the 2003/04 season changing with the Flint Generals (UHL), Utah Grizzlies (AHL) and St. John's Maple Leafs (AHL).
From 2004 he spent two seasons in the 2nd Bundesliga with the Lausitzer Füchsen .
