The Seatruck P-class is a class of four ro-pax ships owned by the Clipper Group shipping company Seatruck Ferries.

The ship class was designed by the shipbuilding architect Knud E. Hansen in Helsingør . The ships of the class were ordered from Astilleros de Huelva in January 2005 and built between 2005 and 2009. Two ships were built at the Astilleros de Huelva shipyard and two ships at the Astilleros de Sevilla shipyard.

The ships are operated by Seatruck Ferries in the Irish Sea between the ports of Heysham and Liverpool in Great Britain and Warrenpoint and Dublin in Ireland . They replace the two 30-year-old ro-ro ships on the Heysham – Warrenpoint route and are used on the Liverpool – Dublin route, which Seatruck Ferries took over from Celtic Link in September 2007. The new buildings significantly increased the transport capacity that could be offered on the Heysham – Warrenpoint route.

description

The drive of the vessels is carried out by two Wärtsilä - diesel engines (type: 8L46D) each with 9,240  kW power . The motors act on two variable pitch propellers via reduction gears . The ships reach a speed of 22  knots . The ships are equipped with two electrically powered transverse thruster systems , each with an output of 1,000 kW. Two shaft generators , each with an output of 1,200 kW, each driven by an output shaft from the main engine, as well as three diesel generator sets, each driven by a Wärtsilä diesel engine (type: 4L20) with 645 kW output, are available for power generation. A diesel generator set from Volvo-Penta (type: D9) was installed as an emergency generator .

The ships have three ro-ro decks . A total of 1,830  meters of gauge are available, of which 310 meters on the tank ceiling , 828 meters on the main deck and 692 meters on the weather deck . The available height on the deck on the tank ceiling is 5.00 meters, on the main deck 6.80 and on the weather deck through covered areas 5.20 meters. The tank top and main deck can be loaded with 2.5 t / m², the weather deck with 2.0 5 / m². The capacity is 120 trucks or trailers .

Containers can also be loaded on the main deck and weather deck . The total weight must not exceed 40 t per 40-foot container stack and 28 t per 20-foot container stack.

The ships are loaded and unloaded via two stern ramps . The ramp on the backboard side is 6.5 meters wide and 9.5 meters long. It leads directly to a 6.4 meter wide ramp onto the weather deck. The ramp on the starboard side is 12.3 meters wide and 9.5 meters long. It leads to the main deck. From here, the ro-ro deck on the tank ceiling, which is below the main deck, can be reached via a 3.5 meter wide ramp. The ramp can be locked so that there is more space for vehicles to be charged.

Above the weather deck, in the front area of the ships, there is the deckhouse , which is partially built over the weather deck. The maximum manning of the ships is given as 23 people. There are 22 cabins available for them. Twelve individual cabs are available for truck drivers. The deckhouse also has mess rooms and lounges for the crew and truck drivers, kitchen rooms and provisions stores as well as other functional rooms and the bridge .
