Sebastian Dahlström (born November 5, 1996 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish football player who is under contract with the Moldovan first division club Sheriff Tiraspol . The midfielder is a Finnish international .

Career

Dahlström began playing football at Helsinki PS and moved to the youth department of the HJK Helsinki at the age of 12 . For the 2015 game year he was promoted to the reserve team Klubi 04 . He made his professional debut on March 14th (1st matchday) in the 2-0 home win of the first team against local rivals Helsingfors IFK in the semi-finals of the Liigacup . He made his debut in the third-class Kakkonen at Klubi 04 on March 14th in the away game against Kultsu FC . He started and equalized the 1-1 final score. He also scored again in the 4-0 away win against FC Myllypuro in the next game. He took over the captain's armband after a short time. On July 4th (13th matchday) he scored a hat trick in a 6-0 away win against FC Kiffen 08 . In this 2015 season he appeared in 25 league games in which he scored six goals.

In the 2016 season , head coach Mika Lehkosuo was promoted to the first team. He made his debut in the Veikkausliiga on May 4 (7th matchday) in a 5-1 home win against the Tampereen Ilves , in which he scored one goal and prepared another goal. In the course of the year he made it into the starting line-up. He was used in 21 league games in which he scored three goals and two assists. In the following 2017 season he was able to improve his performance and scored three goals and nine assists in 26 league appearances. With HJK he won the double , consisting of the 28th championship title in the club's history and the 13th triumph in the Suomen Cup . The championship was successfully defended in the 2018 season . Dahlström played 32 of 33 possible league games, in which he collected two goals and five assists. In the cup they reached the final, which was lost to FC Inter Turku . In the 2019 season he took over the captain's armband, which was previously not permanently assigned. This season he played 21 league games, in which he scored twice.

After exactly 100 league games in which he scored ten goals, Dahlström left the HJK at the end of the 2019 season on a free transfer for the Republic of Moldova , where he signed a two-year contract with the series champion Sheriff Tiraspol .

National team

From March 2017 to October 2018 Sebastian Dahlström played 15 international matches for the Finnish U21 national team, in which he scored one goal.

He made his debut for the A selection on January 8, 2019 in a 1-0 win in a friendly international match against Sweden when he came on for Tim Sparv at half-time .
