A cable car station describes a building that serves as a stop and / or diversion station for the equipment of a cable car or a ski lift . The main task of the cable car station is thereby

  • the takeover of the mechanical forces acting on the cable car and
  • the accommodation of the technical system and
  • to enable the orderly, protected and monitored boarding and alighting of passengers .

Cable car stations of a cable car or a ski lift usually consist of an open or closed valley station and mountain station and, if necessary, one or more middle stations can also be available.

In some cases, facilities that are physically connected to the cable car stations also serve to feed passengers and, more rarely, to provide accommodation. In many cases, there are kiosks at cable car stations and viewing platforms are usually found in the mountain stations .
