Selbach is a district of the municipality of Nohfelden in Saarland . Near the village is the Nahe spring to the west and the Blies spring to the south . The place name is not affected by this, it could be derived from the old word Seli for meadow. The landmark of the place is the Katharinenkapelle.

history

In historical times, the village belonged to the neighboring town of Neunkirchen , both in terms of high jurisdiction and canon law . Selbach with the Hofgut Imsbach originally belonging to Theley belonged to the Oldenburg principality of Birkenfeld from 1817 to 1937 . The Imsbach estate remained near Selbach after 1937 and came back to the Tholey municipality , to which the Theley district now belonged, on January 1, 1974 as part of the regional and administrative reform . Selbach became part of the community of Nohfelden.
