Sembrancher ( German outdated Saint Brancher or Saint Branschier ) is a municipality , a civic community and capital of the district Entremont of the French-speaking canton of Valais in Switzerland .

In Sembrancher, the Drance de Bagnes coming from the Val de Bagnes and the Drance d'Entremont coming from the Val d'Entremont come together, the merged Drance flows into the Rhône near Martigny .

Sembrancher is located on the main road 21 to the Great St. Bernhard and on the Martigny - Orsières (Val d'Entremont) railway , from where a branch line leads to Le Châble (Val de Bagnes). It is operated by the Transports de Martigny et Régions (formerly Chemins de fer Martigny-Orsières ).

economy

On May 14, 2019, a drying and processing plant for herbs from organic agriculture ( Bio Suisse ) was inaugurated.
