The Bad Reichenhall / Kirchholz transmitter is a 54.7 m high VHF transmitter operated by Bavarian Radio . It is located in the municipality of Bayerisch Gmain , on the edge of the former municipality-free area of Kirchholz . The station was created in the course of the restructuring of the Alpine network of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation in May 1979. It is considered a typical filling station for the city of Bad Reichenhall and those areas that the Untersberg station cannot reach. It supplies the Saalachtal from Fronau to Piding and on federal road 20 in the direction of Berchtesgaden to the Hallthurm pass .
