Localization of Lombardy in Italy

The transmitter Monte Penice is a transmitter of the RAI for television and FM broadcasting on the district of the municipality Menconico in the southern tip of the Lombardy .

The location was created in 1953 out of the desire to supply as much of northern Italy as possible . The Monte Penice , a 1460  m slm high mountain on the northwestern edge of the Apennines , offered ideal conditions for this, because from here there is a wide view over the entire Po Valley , from Cuneo on the western edge of Piedmont via Milan to Veneto and Emilia. Romagna . A 150 meter high freestanding steel lattice tower is used as the antenna carrier .

If the conditions are good, the stations on Monte Penice can be heard as far as German-speaking Switzerland .
